SOF Design and Innovation Basic Course
Description
Course is held in person over an one week (5 day) period, and held throughout USSOCOM, allied, and partner locations. Course provides foundational military design education for students interested in organizational change, innovation, creativity and disruptive thinking for SOF applications in complex emergent contexts. Students learn how to operate in design teams, use a wide range of multi-disciplinary design concepts in a flexible, adaptive methodology for fostering reflective practitioners and change agents across the SOCOM enterprise. Total time commitment: approx. 8.0 hours per day x 5 days for a total of 40 hours. Students are expected to complete 3 to 4 hours of pre course work prior to first day of class
Audience
Primary: Action officers from USSOCOM, the theater special operations commands, and the components who will participate in special operations design teams. Secondary: United States Government personnel partnered with USSOCOM. Grades: E-5 to E9 and O-1 to O-10 and Government Civilian equivalents. *24 seats available per iteration
Materials
Students will have access to all required materials through JSOU’s e-campus. Students must have commercial Internet access, Zoom video conferencing capability, and a computer or personal electronic device with camera and microphone for video conferences
