Civilian Leader Development Program

SOF Staff and Enabling Support CLDP SOC3455 Nomination Only Unclassified

Description

This course provides civilian employees with a thorough understanding of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) enterprise. This is accomplished through a 9-month experiential learning model that includes visits to various component commands, the SOCOM HQ, a theater special operations command, and the Washington Office. By immersing participants in the unique capabilities and cultures of each component, the program helps civilian leaders grasp how their roles directly support the warfighter and the broader SOCOM mission. This investment in people aligns with the core "SOF Truth" that "Humans are more important than hardware," underscoring the command's commitment to its workforce. Beyond foundational knowledge, the CLDP is intensely focused on leadership and professional growth. The program aims to strengthen existing skillsets while developing key competencies such as self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and inclusive leadership. A significant emphasis is placed on building a collaborative network, connecting participants with mentors and peers across the enterprise to tackle challenges and foster future cooperation. Duration: This course is run annually over 9 calendar months Location: This course is conducted as a hybrid with some distance learning but is primarily on-site during command visits (at SOCOM HQ, Component Commands, the SOWO, and SOCNORTH).
